The team has three objectives:

bulletTo provide a full spectrum of stimulating and thought-provoking training opportunities and encouragement for all levels – with particular emphasis for pre solos/new members
bulletTo run a safe and efficient operation to maximize the available launch capacity – we understand that you come to Lasham to fly!
bulletLast but not least to have FUN!

The Wednesday Evening Course provides an excellent way of progressing your gliding by flying regularly with a small number of instructors and is an ideal meeting place for like-minded people wanting to make real progress in their gliding.

Does standing around the launch point waiting for your name to surface from the depths of the flying list sound familiar? A little foresight can go a long way to improving the situation and if you need any help identifying things to be done we're not slow to point them out! The typical result is a motivated launch point operation that can provide launches for everyone on the course with most people achieving their objectives.

Last year we had a very good season obtaining the following statistics:

bullet

 Six pilots attaining first solos

bullet

799 wire launches and 24 aerotows

bullet

Over 106 hours flying time

bullet

12.6 launches per hour averaged over the season, best average over one evening was 17.7 with two winches & 12.8 using a single winch

bullet

12 different types of gliders flown – ranging from T21 to DG1000, K8 to ASW19

Previous Expeditions: Ulster and Talgarth  and even Colemore Common for field landing practice.

The Team’s spirit and enthusiasm are infectious and seem to have a lasting effect on those who join us, some having been with us for many years – and some of them are now instructors!

We will always endeavor to accommodate new members.

Tempted? Then don’t delay, join us
